So, Nikon ignored my pleas for a replacement. Here’s how it went down:
Please inform me of what had been done about the request to replace this lens, as the representative I had spoke to assured me that a manager would have to make the approval or denial before any repairs took place. I would like to know why a replacement had been denied, and insisted on repairing this lens for the 3rd or 4th time.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the status of your Nikon repair. The Service Manager opted to fixed product and (Silent Wave Motor) was replaced.
yes, I know the Service Manager had already opted to repair the lens — my question was, why was the replacement denied? Please escalate this issue so that I may receive an explanation for the actions and handling of this product. Thank you.

Really… I mean, really? What a fucking asshole — I ask for a more detailed reason, and what do they give me - a one line, re-stated, ‘explanation’, that was even less detailed than their first response. Look, thanks for stating the fucking obvious… but… really… did you even fucking graduate high school?
